I am proud and honored to have played a role in the first publication of Jordan’s school newspaper – the JHS Journal. Since its opening in 2020, Jordan has made great strides in becoming a first-rate high school. It has moved up through the ranks not only in its athletic programs, but academically as well. Numerous programs, clubs, and organizations have sprouted up as the school continues to evolve and its students continue to grow. I consider this publication a small but important step along that journey.
Topics for the JHS Journal will include general school news, sports programs, clubs, arts and entertainment, opinion as well as trending subjects relating to high schools both here in Texas and across the country. Additionally, our paper will include an extras section with entertaining tidbits of information, giving the paper an air of fun. The JHS Journal will strive to include important aspects that shape our school and its students. In particular, we plan to highlight noteworthy student achievements. We believe that uplifting and promoting students and their hard work is crucial to helping instill a sense of pride in our student body and faculty. We welcome and encourage all students to suggest ideas for each upcoming edition as our staff seeks to make the paper as inclusive as possible.
The JHS Journal will take the form of a website that is continually updated. This will allow us to produce content that is not only interesting and entertaining, but also current. The user-friendly design of the website will make it easy for students to explore and enjoy the content.
The paper’s website at the time of this writing includes an article on the excitement and camaraderie that surrounds Jordan’s football season, as well as the progression of our soccer teams throughout the years. It also highlights the amazing accomplishments of one of our seniors, who is headed to Washington, D.C., this fall to receive an award from the president. Lastly, it includes a fun piece about where to find some thrills and scares this Halloween season. Each of these stories represents the vibrant accomplishments of our student body, and I can only imagine what is to come.
On behalf of the staff, I commit to you that we will strive to produce a school newspaper that is interesting, relevant, accurate, balanced, inclusive, and respectful. I hope you thoroughly enjoy this very first edition.
