Marvel Rivals is a hero shooter (a team PvP style game with differing objectives for each team) that is taking the world by storm. With 35 heroes so far, all of them unlocked for anyone to pick up, the game is bountiful with interesting characters, each with a unique moveset. Although some of these characters are fun to play against, there are definitely some that are considered more infuriating compared to others. This is a tier list from my own experience over the characters, and which are the 10 characters where the mere sight of them makes me want to pull at my own hair.
10. Namor
Namor is an annoying duelist for few, but very prominent reasons. For one, Namor is able to cover flanks and areas with his squids. They don’t do much damage, but they alert Namor and his allies of anyone that may be trying to sneak around. They also provide extra damage in the midst of fights, sometimes taking down someone at low health who’s trying to retreat back to their healers. His team-up with Luna Snow makes his squids even more annoying, giving them a slight damage boost, and more importantly, slows down enemies that they hit.
Another annoying move that Namor has access to is his protective shield. This makes him impervious to all kinds of damage, and he is even allowed to be healed while inside his water bubble. This makes killing him a chore, even if he’s near death.
9. Iron Man
Iron Man is a duelist that is infuriating for several reasons. For one, his flight makes him easy to miss until he begins to shoot, and even harder to hit when you’re amidst another battle on the ground. His laser beam also shreds through other duelists and strategists as well, if he aims correctly. He can also power up his attacks, giving them a larger blast radius and higher damage.
But the two most annoying things about Mr. Stark is his team-up ability with Hulk and his ultimate. When paired up with Hulk, Iron Man gains an even bigger damage boost and attack radius when he powers up, doing insane numbers of damage that nobody should have access to. His ultimate is also the strongest in the game, dealing over a thousand damage to anyone hit by it.
8. Iron Fist
Iron Fist is a notorious flanker that lives in the nightmares of any strategist player. Iron Fist seems simple to beat, but his parry ability allows him to stop any incoming damage for a split second. This means that if you’re up against a good Iron Fist, you’ll be left wondering how he took no damage from your most powerful hit. He can even self-heal, allowing him to stay in the enemy backline by self-sustaining his health points.
Alongside being a nightmare for strategists, he’s also a nightmare for any character that can fly. Iron Fist can defy the laws of physics and continuously pummel anyone flying around to death. His mobility, self-healing, and damage output makes him an infuriating character to try to take out if he’s being played in the right hands.
7. Spider-Man
Now imagine what Iron Fist does but you can’t react to it. That’s Spider-Man for you. Yes, he can’t heal himself nor can he parry attacks, but that doesn’t matter if you can’t react to the person flying towards you at mach 10.
Now, Spider-Man is without a doubt, the hardest character to play in Marvel Rivals. But even if you do learn how to play him flawlessly, the way he plays is still infuriating for the other team, as his whole style is to dive in for a quick kill against a strategist or anybody that’s on low health, and swing away before their teammates can get revenge. J. Jonah Jamenson was right–this web-slinger is a menace to society.
6. Hela
Hela is without a doubt one of the best duelists in the game, and for good reason. Her swords do a crazy amount of damage, she has a stun that allows her to hit her shots against mobile targets easier, and she can escape out of situations by turning into a crow and flying away.
What makes her unbearably good however is the fact that she has hitscan–a mechanic where shots taken where your crosshair is instantly hit whoever it’s locked onto. Combined with the fact that her swords kill enemies in two headshots, she is annoying to deal with due to her ability to do practically anything she wants.
What crosses her line is her ultimate: Hela rises up to the air, gains over 1000 health, and begins to rain fire on the enemy team with exploding shots that do insane amounts of damage. Any time she gets a kill also causes where that enemy died to explode, dealing damage to anyone near that person. She’s the goddess of death for a reason–but it doesn’t make it any less infuriating to deal with her shenanigans.
5. Moon Knight
Moon Knight is another duelist that deals a crazy amount of damage just like Hela. But unlike Hela, he gets his damage through one ability alone–his ankh. He can place down two ankhs, and if he throws his crescent darts at it, it bounces off any enemies in the ankh’s radius, dealing massive amounts of damage. The ankh alone has accomplished solo team wipes. This causes Moon Knight players to be encouraged to play like a camper–not moving from one secluded vantage spot they find. The crescents even bounce off of enemies, so bunching up together on the objective is a death sentence if there’s a Moon Knight present.
This is without even going over his ultimate–where he summons “The Hand of Khonshu” in a circular radius, dealing 75 damage per each hit. Problem is–there are 14 hits in his ultimate, and in the middle of it, he can throw down his ankh to deal even more damage. This is guaranteed to wipe out whoever is caught in the middle of the crossfire, and makes Moon Knight an annoying campy hero.
4. Cloak & Dagger
Cloak & Dagger is the first and only healer on this list–and surprisingly, for only one reason. They play fairly for the most part–Dagger hurts and heals with her auto-aiming daggers, and Cloak damages with his auto-aiming darkforce and hides in his cloak. Yes, the auto-aiming makes it mildly annoying to deal with, since they cannot miss their attacks nor their healing, but it isn’t anything crazy.
What is absolutely maddening however is their ultimate. Their ultimate has them dash around 4 times, leaving behind a path of red mist that heals allies standing in it and hurts enemies on it. However, the amount of healing that the trail gives their allies is insane–making them practically unkillable to any normal attacks. The damage also chases away enemies that are on the objective, since the tick damage isn’t anything crazy but still shouldn’t be ignored.
So surely they get their ultimate back really slowly, right? Unfortunately, the opposite is true. Cloak & Dagger get their ultimate stupendously fast–sometimes even in under a minute. They charge their ultimate so fast that they can sometimes use it twice in the same fight.
3. Hawkeye
Hawkeye is annoying for one reason and one reason only: He is the only character in the game to be able to kill people in one shot. He plays like a sniper–standing in the back and providing fire to his allies fighting in the front.
If his arrows had to be more precise and took longer to lock onto targets, then he’d be just fine–a sniper that takes skill to play. However, his shots are so forgiving that it’s laughable that anyone thinks he takes skill to play. You can even rapid fire with his arrows, and as long as you get headshots, you can kill people in three hits. This lets him kill the enemy’s strategists from afar, and if you know anything about Marvel Rivals, strategists are vital to a team and their survival.
2. Peni Parker
Peni Parker is our only vanguard on this list, and she already made herself the second most annoying character in the game. The reason why is because of how she’s able to play in a way where she can do anything she wants. Peni has unlimited ammo as her primary fire, has a stun with a very short cooldown time, and can put down mines everywhere that do 100 per each one that goes off.
What truly makes Peni an annoying tank however is her nest of spider mines. If used correctly, it can shut down flanks more effectively than Namor’s squids ever could, and can be placed in positions where it’s hard to destroy without stepping in the nest’s blast radius. The nest also gives her a movement boost and self-heals her, giving the little brat practically everything she needs to be self-sustaining.
1. Squirrel Girl
The most annoying character in the game, and, in my humble opinion, the most skilless hero that you can use. Her playstyle is simple yet annoyingly effective–shoot acorn grenades at the enemy and force the enemy to play a hellfire game. This usually wouldn’t be an issue, if it weren’t for the acorns having the ability to bounce around AND be able to do almost 100 damage per acorn. This allows her to shoot randomly into the fray without having to aim and be rewarded for playing with this uninteresting and boring play style.
She even has several escape options if enemies get too close to her, all of which are hard to deal with. For one, she can launch a special acorn that keeps enemies in place, long enough for her to run away and keep shooting at random directions. Another way she can run away is by using her high jump, letting her to sometimes escape situations and even find a new vantage point to keep spamming her acorns at. Squirrel Girl can also get another escape option if she is in a team with Spider-Man. She gets access to a web-wrapped acorn that stuns enemies.
There is no other hero that kills the fun of the game like Squirrel Girl. She takes no skill to play, and is encouraged to stand still and shoot at random directions.
