As the school year comes to an end, students and staff have their summer plans set in stone and are excited to be free of reality. While some students and teachers stick to one target spot, some are going for an adventurous summer, across many countries.
“I am going to Argentina, Chile, Mexico City and Uruguay,” Freshman Nuria Garcia said.
“I’m traveling across the United States and seeing families that came back to the U.S,” said Algebra teacher Brianna Mcgee.
Spanish teacher Profe Quintero says, “I’m going to Spain and France for 10 days with some of my students.”
While exploring many parts of the world, many students and staff will be traveling by boat or via cruise.
Spanish teacher Olga Carreon says that this summer, “I’m going on a cruise to Cozumel.”
Freshman Cristina Blanco has said, “I am going on a cruise to Mexico and Honduras.”
Not all students and staff are going to be traveling for fun, though. Some will be attending camps, learning new skills, and preparing for the upcoming school year.
“I’m going to Rice University for a week for this program for AP classes next year,” Quintero said.
Junior Brianna Arguelles is excited to hone her color guard skills.
“I plan on marching with a drum core called the troopers and I’m going to spin for their color guard line”, Arguelles said.
For everyone else, summer offers an opportunity to relax and unwind after a busy school year.
“I think the majority of people are going to sleep in,” Blanco said.
“People are probably gonna sleep til noon and then be on tiktok the rest of the day,” Carreon said.
“Majority of people are going to sleep,” Garcia said.
Regardless of their plans and ambitions, as the school year comes to a close the feeling of excitement travels through both teachers and students.
“I’ve kept my luggage sitting in my living room for a month and a half waiting for school to be out,” said Mcgee.
