The 7th-place Jordan Warrior Varsity Girls Basketball team faced off against 6th-place Paetow on January 17th. Our warriors had quite a challenge on their hands. Going into the game, our warriors had 2 wins and 8 losses in district play, and Paetow had 5 wins and 6 losses.
With the final score of the match between these two fierce teams ending in a gut-wrenching 43-37 win for Paetow, the Warriors are still fighting to climb in the district rankings and find their footing.
However, our Warriors are resilient, and count on each other to step up when times get hard. Moving forward the Warriors are going to rely on the strengths of their teammates and the knowledge of the game to rise above adversity.
“One of my biggest challenges is confidence, and being confident to go far in the season and succeed,” Guard Harper Rushing said. “I can count on my teammates to help and support me through any challenge I may face along the way.”
When playing any sport there is competition for spots, the starting position, and even playing time. But something that our Warriors strive for is picking someone up after a devastating loss or a setback that costs another player their confidence.
“I want to be someone my teammates can confide in,” Post Ciara Emezue said. “A big challenge for me has been competing with my fellow teammates for my position.”
When striving to be the best, you have to show your coaches and teammates that you are willing to put in that effort. But also know your limits.
“This season has been difficult,” Post Ciara Emezue said. “The main reason I’ve been able to get this far is knowing my strengths and weaknesses.”
But the Warriors will have another shot at victory to beat the Cinco Ranch Cougars, on Tuesday January 23. As well as Paetow, our Warriors have a huge composition to face. With the Cougars ranking 4th in district.
