The MCU has come a long way since its release in 2008. Starting all the way back with Ironman 1 there are many changes that have made the MCU the way it is today.
Starting in the beginning the movies were all about the characters and creating a base of who and what they will be with movies like Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, and Ironman. These characters later on became the MCU’s biggest hit the avengers.
Over the last decade the avengers has continued to show great success and continues to be a big staple for marvel. But in the last few years the MCU is moving towards a lot of new faces that are not of the original 6. Marvel is also branching out to tv shows about character backgrounds trying new methods to attract viewers.
In my opinion the new generation of marvel is a big downgrade from the old movies we grew to love. People still talk about Ironman and Spiderman but nobody talks about Captain Marvel. The old movies have a big place in our hearts that the new movies just can’t build. That feeling of seeing a marvel trailer and being wowed just isn’t there anymore.
The death’s and events that happened in endgame were very drastic and the death of Ironman started the downfall of the MCU. When you kill off a character who is the face of the franchise, the people who enjoy that character will loose interest in the series and move onto other films.
The choreography and themes are getting really generic and it feels like they are running low on ideas. These movie plots consist of reuniting with an old friend and fighting a common enemy to protect the ones the hero loves. As a viewer if you know how the whole movie is going to play out then you just won’t go see it.
The recent advertised movie, The Marvels, with Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel set where three girls work together to fight a bad guy. The movie was projected to make $70 million opening week, giving a huge loss for the MCU. The amount of money spent on ads and the amount spent on the film put Marvel at a financial loss. The Marvels might just be the wakeup call that marvel needs to move back into its old roots.
To conclude the debate it’s clear that the old MCU films have a special place in our heart and they can’t replicate that feeling. We as viewers still watch and love marvel movies but we have grown up and so has the MCU.

They may have gone to the well too many times at this point. Greed sometimes chokes out wisdom.
