In Rhodes Stadium, Jordan and Katy Taylor High School battled it out for the top spot in their division. Both teams exploded offensively in the first half. Jordan with two passing touchdowns from quarterback Colin Willetts, both caught by wide receiver Andrew Marsh. Katy Taylor answers back with two touchdowns of their own.
The half ended 14-14. In the beginning of the third quarter, Taylor’s defense takes away a pick six from Colin Willetts, but this didn’t stop the offense completely. In very little time, the offense managed to put more points on the board, a 33-yard receiving touchdown from Andrew Marsh, making it his third receiving touchdown of the game. But before the third quarter closes, Taylor returned the kickoff for an 85 yard touchdown, approaching the last quarter with Taylor in the lead, 21-30.
The offense strategically gets up the field, but could not get into the endzone, resulting in a successful field goal. Katy Taylor tried to chew out the clock, but Jordan’s defense came up big, stopping Katy Taylor’s run game on 4th and 1, giving Jordan one last chance to win the game.
With the game on the line, Willetts aired it out 30 yards to the endzone, giving Marsh a one-on-one against a Taylor defensive back, but unfortunately Taylor got the better of Marsh, getting the game sealing interception.
Despite the strong offensive start and clutch defensive finish, Jordan struggled to end the game with a win.
