The 2023 Katy ISD Progress Show was held December 7 & 8 in the LD Robinson Pavilion at the Katy ISD Ag Center. Many Jordan Future Farmers of America members showed off the progress of their livestock which included an array of goats, lambs, pigs, and steers. Students competed against schools across the district. The progress show marks the midpoint of the FFA show season, with the official show scheduled for February. It is a great opportunity for students to work on their showmanship skills and gain valuable input from teachers and advisors.

Thursday, the goat raisers showed, with Abby Ewing placing 2nd, Emily Evans placing 4th, and Zach Phillips placing 2nd in their classes. Zach also earned a showmanship callback for how well he worked his goat.

The lamb show was later that night and Lara Visser placed 3rd in class and was called back for her great showmanship.

Friday, the pig show started off strong with Kolby Cooley winning Class 2. Other highlights include Bailey Foster placing 3rd in Class 5.

Nolan Kondra and Landon Foster placed in the top 5 for weight class 10.

FFA had 4 members called back to compete in Showmanship, Reese Braillier, Holden Bryant, Carson Smith, and Kylee Wingfield. Holden and Carson made it to the top 5 and Carson Smith ended up winning Reserve Champion Showman overall. He was awarded a buckle and banner to congratulate his accomplishment.

Following the pig show was the steer show, where both showmen, Brylee Chalk & Jaeden Mortensen, placed 2nd in their classes with their Steers. Jaeden, a first year FFA member, also earned a showmanship callback.

FFA students’ hard work was shown off and celebrated while they learned how they can improve for their final showing in February.
