The Jordan Warriors came into their first postseason appearance ready to showcase their offensive and defensive prowess against the Hightower Hurricanes at Mercer Stadium on November 10.
Before the game kicked off, Jordan’s sideline suffered a scary medical emergency, causing a player to be evacuated off the field. The player was safely taken in by an ambulance and the game continued on.
A defensive first quarter for both teams caused both offenses to go scoreless in the first 12 minutes of the game. In the second quarter, the Hurricanes gained momentum to score the first touchdown of the game. After another unsuccessful offensive drive, the Hurricanes marched down the field to score yet another 40 yard touchdown. The Hurricanes managed to get one last touchdown before the end of the half.
The Warrior’s offense got hot and put points on the board in the final seconds of the half. Colin Willetts made big plays to finally get into the endzone, culminating with a receiving touchdown by wide receiver Andrew Marsh.
In the second half, Jordan’s defense allowed another touchdown from the Hurricanes, while the Warriors could not reach the endzone for the rest of the game. The game concluded 7-35.
Although the first post-season appearance by the Warriors ended short in defeat, the future of the program looks very bright.
